Oshkosh Wins $51 Million Army Contract

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The defense-related division of Oshkosh(OSK) has been awarded a $51 million contract to provide armor upgrades for military vehicles.

Oshkosh Defense said Wednesday the contract calls for 660 armor kits to protect a specific type of heavy Army truck.

The company says the trucks have a strong armor component already built in, but the new armor kits can be added for improved safety.

The Oshkosh-based firm says the kit is designed so a two-soldier crew can install it with no special tools.

Shares of Oshkosh Corp. rose 91 cents, or 17.9%, to $5.99 in midday trading Wednesday.
