It's been too late for 3,000 points. I am now being inundated with questions about whether it is too late after the averages have run.
Is it too late to buy Google (GOOG - commentary - Trade Now), when it is growing at a rate of 23% and selling at 23 times earnings? Is it too late to buy Home Depot (HD - commentary - Trade Now), down 13 points from when housing was crashing, even though you now have new and better management? Is it too late to buy McDonald's (MCD - commentary - Trade Now), when it has a roughly 4% yield and is the ultimate weak dollar play? Is it too late to buy Chevron (CVX - commentary - Trade Now), with a close to 4% yield, even as it just preannounced a better-than-expected quarter with oil going higher? Is it too late to buy Comcast (CMCSA - commentary - Trade Now), 50% lower than it was two years ago, even as it is allowed to buy other cable companies and is generating more cash flow than ever? Is it too late to buy a high quality pharmaceutical like Bristol Myers (BMY - commentary - Trade Now) with a 5.5% yield? How about Altria (MO - commentary - Trade Now) at 7.5%? Is it too late to buy Bank of America (BAC - commentary - Trade Now), down 60% from where it was when the banking crisis was running its course and where we have seen consolidation that could be huge for it? A reinvigorated Procter & Gamble (PG - commentary - Trade Now), down almost 20% from its high, with a 3% yield -- not bad for the company with the best dividend-boosting rate on the Big Board?
