NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Stocks rallied to fresh highs for the year Thursday, closing just off their session peaks, as investors felt optimism after the Federal Reserve decided to keep rates low. Morning economic data helped to douse inflation fears.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average improved 48 points, or 0.5% to 10,734. The S&P 500 gained 7 points, or 0.6%, to 1166 and the Nasdaq went ahead by 11 points, or 0.5%, at 2389.
